ICAC Workshop 1: Evaluation Results

What activities/concepts/tools did you find most valuable?
All of it!
I really enjoyed working through our profiles and understanding the different styles. I think it is important that we understand each other so that we can work together better as a leadership group. Understanding that what motivates me doesn't necessarily motivate others.
The detailed introduction to DiSC and being able to have a copy of my own report, that has information about how I can work with and manage others with similar and different work styles. It was all very useful and fascinating, excellent training! Confidential feedback: The other incredibly valuable thing that Diarmid did was make clear that having performance conversations and giving feedback is a key and central part of a manager's and leader's job - and not something to be put off because it's too hard or done when other, more important work is finished. I think that message needed to be communicated and I really appreciate that it was so clearly. Thanks.
I found the session thought provoking and re visited some useful concepts
Discussing how each of the style would potentially react in the same scenario
DiSC profiling, the OAR/BED concepts and leadership styles for coaching.

What didn't work or could have been better?
I think perhaps mixing the tables up a little. I was with a group of people all worked in the same section. I think getting a broader group is beneficial for different perspectives but also building relationships.
The training itself was very engaging. Even though it was a long day, nothing felt hard going or boring - it was all really valuable. The only thing I would say could have been better would have been the mix of people in the room but that is something that Leed consulting would have taken advice on from our organisation. It may have been better to have had both days split into 2 groups - Directors and managers.
The session was quiet long but it was all useful so hard to cut down.
working through strategies/tools to flex styles.
Activity after lunch trying to work as a group to find common themes for 'S's' felt flat. It may be a reflection of how S's function as a group left to their own devices.

Nothing. Diarmid is a great trainer.
Diarmid was very engaging without being too pushy
I think it is important to stress that the DiSC profiling is a baseline and circumstances will change behaviour.
Nothing. Day was informative and enjoyable.
